is it established?
Global peace foundation Malaysia is a
nonprofit organization that focused on building resilient and cohesive
communities, particularly among the Orang Asli through a value based an
approach to peacebuilding. Global peace foundation Malaysia is an international
organization with a global vision of “One Family under God”.

Established in 2011, Global Peace Foundation
Malaysia is at the forefront of advancing innovative, values-based approach to
peacebuilding and development. We are guided by the vision that humanity is one
family transcending racial, cultural, and national divisions. Our Malaysian

What is the history of the Global Peace
Foundation Malaysia?
Global Peace Foundation Malaysia was officially
registered in Malaysia in the year 2011. Our journey began with a mission to
empower and transform the lives of at-risk youth and underserved communities.
We initially engaged with at-risk youth through sports programs, collaborated
with schools on character development, and fostered a culture of volunteerism
among young people.
Over the years, our focus has evolved in response
to the changing needs of the communities we serve. A significant shift occurred
as we started to work more closely with the Orang Asli communities, recognizing
the unique challenges and developmental gaps they faced. This led to a
strategic pivot towards a more holistic approach to development. Today, our
efforts are streamlined to address a wide range of needs within the Orang Asli
communities, including access to basic needs such as clean water, sanitation,
and sustainable livelihoods through regenerative farming. Education programs
for children and marketing support for their produce and value-added products

multi-sector movement of moral and innovative leaders who work in partnership
to address the critical issues of conflict and underdevelopment in communities,

leadership and empowering families. Social cohesion peace building GPF Malaysia
build broad awareness of the central importance of universal principles and
shared value as the basis for social cohesion and peace building. Moral and
innovative leadership develops a multi-sector movement of moral and innovative
leaders that work in partnership to address the critical issue of conflict and
underdevelopment in communities, nation and regions. Empowering families as the
primary means of instilling values and promotes an educational culture that
fosters character and creativity to guide youth to become ethical global

ecosystems while producing food and income.

- Cass Mah emphasizes the importance of bringing Orang Asli voices to the
first line through public speaking, storytelling, and youth engagement.
-Global Peace Foundation Malaysia can nurture culturally rooted
entrepreneurship, such as eco-tourism or agroforestry projects, allowing youth
to generate income while staying connected to their heritage.
10. What
did Global Peace Foundation Malaysia face challenge during campaign?
Global Peace Foundation Malaysia faced challenge
during climate aberrations disrupt traditional farming cycles and economic
fluctuations make essential groceries unaffordable for the vulnerable (The Star
Online, 2025). Orang Asli had no saving and had to depend on heavily on food
aid. Global peace foundation Malaysia help Orang Asli to start a program “OA- Eco
Farm Program” for 6 villages. The challenge that faced during the program “OA-Eco
Farm Program” they had an issue of the dry and compact soil often exacerbated by
long drought season in the area of Rompin and Pekan in Pahang. (Chew, 2021)

are the sources of funding for the Foundation’s projects?
Global Peace’s mission to uplift the Orang
Asli community is supported through a diverse funding model that leverages the
strength of partnerships Over the years, Global Peace Foundation Malaysia have
forged meaningful CSR partnerships with various businesses across Malaysia.
These collaborations are not just financial endorsements but are crucial
alliances that increase our impact and extend our reach within the communities they
serve.
These sources of funding are the backbone
of our ability to carry out our mission. They enable us to continue our work in
community development, education, and sustainable livelihoods, ensuring that we
can make a difference in the lives of the Orang Asli people.
12. When
can volunteers get involved in Global Peace Foundation Malaysia’s programs?
Volunteers can go through Global Peace
Foundation Malaysia website to register. Global Peace Foundation Malaysia will notify
volunteer via email when there have programs or activities are open for
participants.
13. When
were the first clean water projects implemented?
The first clean water project that Global Peace Foundation Malaysia
did was in 2010. This project has more than 3000 villagers from eight
communities in Perak, Pahang, Sabah and Sarawak. This clean water project is to
develop sustainable solutions to make clean drinking water accessible such as
constructing groundwater wells, installation of ultra-filtration water filters
in the villages, providing training on water, sanitation and hygiene, and more.

14. Which
two education that GPF have created?
Global Peace Foundation Malaysia has
established two educations for Orang Asli name as The Forest School and The
Mobile School. GPF Malaysia designed is to bring education to children in
remote villages, focusing on literacy, numeracy and life skills. The first school that they established is the
forest school at kampung Binjai, Pahang in November 2021. This initiative aims
to empower Orang Asli clever children. Due to the reason GPF Malaysia believes
that education is a basic right for all children and they strive to make
education accessible by bringing out of classroom learning to underserved communities
like the Orang Asli children. The Forest School aims to raise awareness about
the importance of education for those who have dropped out and to prepare young
wonderful children for primary school. The goal is to provide quality education
and ensure a smooth transition for these children.
In June 2020 the Mobile School has been
carrying out community learning sessions with the Orang Asli children. In
partnership with ECM Libra Foundation, the Mobile School aims to provide
children with the opportunity to learn basic literacy, numeracy and life
skills.
15. What
are the programmatic focuses of Global Peace Foundation Malaysia?
Global Peace Foundation focuses on helping
Orang Asli that are education empowerment that the rate of dropout from school rates
among Orang Asli children through tutoring and school readiness programs.
Global peace foundation malaysia focus on community development clean water
access such as building wells, rainwater harvesting system and filtration units
in remote Orang Asli villages.
16. What
did GPF Malaysia helped Orang Asli to sell their goods?
Global Peace Foundation Malaysia has
created an online marketplace for Orang Asli farmers to generate more income from
their farming activities. On Global Peace Foundation Malaysia website, the
marketplace called Kebun Amai features various of handmade product, fresh fruit
and vegetables from the farmers and their families that are from Rompin and
Pekan districts in Pahang.
17. Is
our donation tax-exempted?
Currently, Global Peace Foundation Malaysia
are in the process of obtaining tax exemption status, which is a detailed and
thorough procedure. They understand the importance of this status for our
donors and are diligently working towards it. If tax exemption is a crucial

international relation accomplishments?
Global Peace Foundation Malaysia is part of
the larger Global Peace Foundation, which operates in over 20 countries.
Through this network, Global Peace Foundation Malaysia has participated in
international summits, policy dialogues, and collaborative peacebuilding
initiatives. Global Peace Foundation Malaysia - has worked with embassies,
multinational organizations, and international NGOs on programs that promote
diplomacy, peace education, and community development. These engagements
strengthen Malaysia’s role in transnational peacebuilding efforts. (Dawson,

19. What
advice would you give to someone who wants to work in the Global Peace
Foundation Malaysia NGO sector?
Global Peace Foundation Malaysia would need
an individual’s passionate in humanitarian topics and is self-motivated and
proactive. Working in GPFM needs to be good in language skills, communication
and interpersonal skills.
20. How
does the global "One Family Under God" message influence the work
done locally in Malaysia?
The Global “One Family Under God” is not
just a slogan it brings us to have interfaith, creating good relationships and
cooperation with each other. In a country that have different culture, religion
god created us in different races, different areas that God aims to teach us to
work together as a family. (Yakawich, 2018a)

are your sources of funding?
Global Peace’s mission to uplift the Orang Asli
community is supported through a diverse funding model that leverages the
strength of partnerships and the generosity of grant-giving foundations. Over
the years, we have forged meaningful CSR partnerships with various businesses
across Malaysia. These collaborations are not just financial endorsements but
are crucial alliances that amplify our impact and extend our reach within the
communities we serve.
In addition, we are also recipients of grants from
foundations dedicated to grant-giving. These grants are instrumental in scaling
our initiatives, allowing us to address immediate needs and invest in long-term
development programs for the Orang Asli community.
These sources of funding are the backbone of our
ability to carry out our mission. They enable us to continue our work in
community development, education, and sustainable livelihoods, ensuring that we
can make a tangible difference in the lives of the Orang Asli people.
22. Who
is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Global Peace Foundation Malaysia?
Dr. Teh Su Thye is currently the Chief
Executive Officer of the Global Peace Foundation Malaysia. He is a leadership
coach and intercultural expert with 17 years of experience working with youth
across Asia Pacific.
In 2004, Dr. Teh led a 30-people delegation
to the conflict hotspot of Israel – Palestine to be part of the Middle East
Peace Initiative. He developed a regional youth leadership program, the “Global
Peace Volunteer” as a platform to nurture moral and innovative leaders.
Dr. Teh has spoken at various conferences and
conducted trainings as an advocate for intercultural peace and youth
volunteerism in Bangkok, Tokyo, United Nations, Paraguay, Manila and many more.

Reflection
Through doing my research for Global Peace Foundation Malaysia I found out that working for non organization need a lot of time and patience because of this remind us peace is not destination is a daily practice. Global Peace Foundation Malaysia is build trust, empower people, and plant seed that may take years to grow.
